Zanele Muholi has experienced censorship on numerous occasions as a result of their fight against the intolerance of lesbians and the LGTB+ community in South Africa. In 2012, Muholi’s studio was broken into and all the hard drives containing their work were stolen. The authorities never investigated the case thoroughly.
