In 1995, organisers of the French tennis tournament asked Miquel Barceló to design the official poster for Roland Garros. Those same organisers rejected the proposal presented by Barceló and commissioned the work to another artist.


Biography:

Miquel Barceló (Felanitx, 1957) is one of Spain’s most renowned and highly valued artists. His projects involve painting, sculpture, ceramics and drawing. His artwork, which has tremendous creative force, is constantly evolving. He painted the dome of the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. In 2003, he received the Premio Princesa de Asturias de las Artes.
