1972
1972. Encuentros de Pamplona, Pamplona.
Encuentros de Pamplona was an international avant-garde art festival held in 1972. Equipo Crónica participated with a hundred papier-mâché figures representing an agent of Franco’s secret police, placed among the audience of a concert. The pieces were battered, damaged and even stolen.
Equipo Crónica (1964-1981) was an artistic collective made up of Rafael Solbes, Manolo Valdés and Joan Antoni Toledo, who, based on realism, dealt with the social reality of the final years of the Franco dictatorship. Some of their most important pieces are exhibited at the Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (IVAM), the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid and the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA).
