2015

Incident:

2015. Desenterrados exhibition, Sala de Exposiciones Conde de Rodezno, Pamplona.

2016. Performance at Konvent, Cal Rosal, Berga.

In 2015, the exhibition of the project in Pamplona provoked a strong reaction of repulsion. The Archdiocese of Pamplona and the Abogados Cristianos foundation accused the artist of desecration and blasphemy. The charges were dropped but the conservative association again filed a complaint against Azcona, who failed to appear in court. An arrest warrant was issued and the artist went into exile and settled in Portugal. The case was eventually dismissed.

Biography:

Abel Azcona (Madrid, 1988) is a multidisciplinary artist, considered the enfant terrible of contemporary art in Spain. His work, of a highly autobiographical nature, condemns social injustices. He has been censored on several occasions.
